Human Sex Trafficking in Minnesota

By request from the State of Minnesota, The Advocates investigated and reported on the government response to sex-trafficking and the effectiveness of services available for trafficking victims, leading to the “Bill for an Act to Combat Trafficking in Minnesota.

Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Project

In this historic project, The Advocates collaborated directly with the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission to give Liberian refugees across the United States, the United Kingdom, and West Africa a role in the truth and reconciliation process.

The Advocates provides educational resources and tools to help people learn about and apply international human rights standards in their daily lives, their families, their workplaces, and their communities.

Nepal School Project

Through partnerships with Hoste Hainse and the local Nepali community, The Advocates combats child labor by providing a free elementary education and meal to disadvantaged Nepalese children.

B.I.A.S. (Building Immigrant Awareness and Support) Project

The Advocates works to build thriving diverse communities through the use of accurate and up-to-date information about the contributions of refugees and immigrants. 

Death Penalty Project

The Advocates educates and advocates against the death penalty worldwide, including providing domestic legal assistance.

Journey to Safety

The Advocates, in collaboration with Pangea World Theater, provides training and an artistic portrayal of the challenges battered refugee and immigrant women face in negotiating legal and judicial systems in the United States.

Refugee and Asylum Project

Through recruiting and training volunteer attorneys, paralegals, and law students, The Advocates provides pro bono representation to hundreds of individuals each year who have fled religious, ethnic, political, or gender-based persecution in their home countries.
