On February 1, Minnesota Lawyer covered the recent dismissal of claims filed by a former Liberian official against The Advocates and Deputy Director Jennifer Prestholdt.

The Office of Justice Programs' Winter 2009 newsletter ran a story on The Advocates' efforts to reform Minnesota legislation on sex trafficking. The Advocates, supported by the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, testified before the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission (MSGC) about the appropriate placement of the newly enacted sex trafficking statute within the state's sentencing guidelines.

On December 7, Attorney.org featured The Advocates in an article about the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign.

On November 9th, the University Chronicle wrote about a panel discussion at St. Cloud State University on sex trafficking in Minnesota. The Advocates' Mary Ellison was one of two panelists.
